Amber Flag

What is the Amber Flag?

We are very excited to announce that here at Leitrim NS, we are embarking on a new adventure.

The Amber Flag aims to promote positive mental health and wellbeing for all the children in the school. Positive wellbeing means feeling good in your body and your mind, getting on well with others, feeling grateful for everything you have, enjoying life and feeling proud of the special person that you are.

Positive mental health is important to us as it enables us to lead happy, fulfilling lives. The Amber Flag hopes to encourage everyone to be caring and considerate to one another and bring about an improvement in our wellbeing.

Wellbeing Warriors

In order to promote positive mental health and wellbeing at our school, we are all working together to create a safe, positive and healthy attitude towards our general physical and mental health and wellbeing.

We are now all ‘Wellbeing Warriors’.

‘Wellbeing Warriors’ are always…

1. Respectful to everyone.

2. Trustworthy and reliable.

3. Showing empathy to others.

4. Expressing and demonstrating kindness.

5. Present and considerate to others while listening and supporting others.

Introducing our Amber Flag Committee 2023-2024

Our Amber Flag Committee comprises of pupils from all classes, from Junior Infants to Sixth Class.

The Amber Flag Committee are busy planning and organising lots of activities to promote positive mental health in our school and help improve our overall wellbeing.

Successful completion of the Amber Flag initiative involves the whole school community coming together in order to create a safe, positive and healthy attitude towards our general physical and mental health and well-being.

We will be documenting all of our hard work on our school website, where you will see all of the wonderful wellbeing work that is being completed in our school.
